Your child is being asked to be a part of our school’s California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) sponsored by the California Department of Education. This is a very important survey that will help promote better health and wellbeing among our youth, improve the school learning environment and combat problems such as drug abuse and violence. Your child does not have to take the survey. If you do not want your child to complete the survey, you must notify your school. View the forms here: English Spanish

Just because children are born into this digital age doesn't mean they have the tools and knowledge to be good digital citizens. Eileen Calandro teaches parents how to feel comfortable talking with their kids about social media and create parenting strategies for their families.

Eileen Calandro: "I always say you never step in the same "Social Media River" twice. The platforms and apps change faster than the latest fashion trends. Knowing everything doesn't need to be the goal. What's important is teaching parents how to help their children behave safely and appropriately on social media. Helping parents set clear expectations and boundaries for their kids gives families the tools they need to navigate the space."

Thank you Students and Families!  More students attended school more frequently last year. We reduced our Chronic Absence Rate (students missing more than 20% of school) from 12% to 10.5%!

This Flu Season is shaping up to be a doozy! Does AUSD want you to send your children to school sick? No!  Too Sick for School Rule:

Send me to school if:

• I have a runny nose or just a little cough, but no other symptoms.

• I haven’t taken any fever reducing medicine for 24 hours, and I haven’t had a fever during that time.

• I haven’t thrown up or had any diarrhea for 24 hours.

Keep me at home if:

• I have a temperature higher than 100 degrees even after taking medicine.

• I’m throwing up or have diarrhea.

• My eyes are pink and crusty.

Call the doctor if:

• I have a temperature higher than 100 degrees for more than two days.

Need Help? Options? Solutions?

Call your school office every time your child is absent. Work with your child’s teacher and/or school principal to solve attendance problems.

Complete a Chronic Illness Form for extended illness, or talk to your principal about Home & Hospital Instruction.

Contact Alternative Education Services at 462-4350 for educational options.

Arrange for a travel contract if you are going out of town for more than FIVE days.

Students who miss more than 10% (9 days) of school a year before 3rd grade are less likely to read, and more likely to dropout of school.

For more information, please see the flyer.

Send your photo to jenniferparham@atasusd.org. Photos must be received by Friday, January 19th.

Baby dedications for the yearbook are due on January 19th. Stop by the front office to sign up to have your student's baby picture and a loving message from you included in our yearbook. Photos can be emailed to jenniferparham@atasusd.org.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated! Before and after school drop-off/pick-up is congested with the release of AMS, FAA and the bus hub. Please be conscientious of the many students (elementary through high school age students) crossing the street and the high volume of cars. Students and adults must use the crosswalks staffed with crossing guards. In order to keep everyone safe patience is key. Thank you for your help!
